A little "Spring" in our step!

We enjoyed the Spring-like weather yesterday and went to the Botanical Gardens.  Zach commented it was the most relaxed he had felt in weeks and I agreed!

Happy boy....and happy parents (9 months)

I am very excited to announce we are all sleeping through the night in the Bisek household.  That makes for a very happy baby....and even happier parents!  Wow, how different the morning looks after a full night of sleep!  Yes, we are all giddy here....Lucas is now crawling and loves to pull himself up on the ottoman.  He is so much happier now that he can move around.

Lucas and I had a great Easter in Fargo with the Morrison gang.  He did pretty well on the flights but I fear the days of him sleeping the entire flight are over.  He stayed busy opening and closing the shade, banging his fists on the tray table, pushing the TV volume and channel buttons and pulling our neighbor's shirt.  Thank goodness it is only an hour and 20 minute flight!

 Our little Easter bunnies....

Finley and Naia were extremely "helpful" taking care of all of Baby Lucas' needs...

Looking forward to Auntie Sarah and Naia's visit in 2 short weeks!

More Teeth! (8 Months)

Each day brings something new with our little boy...and lately it has been teeth!  In addition to his bottome two teeth, his top two teeth have broken through.  The top two look to be spaced pretty far apart so it is looking like he may have inherited his momma's teeth (I did have braces twice, headgear, neckgear and still to this day wear a retainer!).

At his doctor appointment on Friday he weighed in at 19 1/2 pounds.  He is one big boy!  Just today he showed some interest in army crawling to get to his favorite toy - hopefully that continues.  He hates to be on his tummy so that has definitely delayed any movement on his stomach.  Lucas also loves to stand up and hold on to the ottoman or couch.

Luckily we made it into swimming lessons this summer at one of our outdoor pools.  It is super difficult to get into the lessons as there are so many kids in our area.  We are super happy that Nora, our 1-year-old neighbor, made it into the same class as Lucas.

Favorites:
Toys - anything musical, kitchen utensils, toy alligator
Food - prunes, peas, strawberry/beet puffs
Books - anything with baby faces
Activities - smiling at other babies, sitting on daddy's shoulders, playing with daddy, really anything to do with daddy

On the Move (7 1/2 Months)

About 4 weeks after Lucas was born, I joined a great group called Stroller Strides.  It is a workout group for moms that incorporates the stroller.  It was my saving grace during my maternity leave as some days that was my only reason to leave the house.  The best part....everyone's babies would cry at some point and there was no judgement or no thinking, "will he EVER stop crying?!".  The teacher would always say, "No one else can hear your baby cry but you."  I have learned babies cry a lot and Lucas was no exception.
Because I went back to work full-time and Stroller Strides meets at 9:30 each morning, I had to quit going to the group.  When I heard a Stroller Strides Saturday winter running group was starting up, I couldn't wait to sign up.  The plan was to train for and run three races - a 5K in December, a 5-mile in January and a 10-mile race in February.  Training included running every Saturday morning together as a group and two runs throughout the week.  Well, I never made a weekday run....BUT I didn't miss a weekend run.  The running was actually easy as we all chatted the whole time and before you knew it, we had finished 5 miles or 7 miles or 9 miles.  Last weekend was our 10-mile race and surprisingly I am sad that it has come to an end...

Speaking of moving, Lucas is more and more active every day.  Is he crawling?  No.  Rolling over?  Well, not exactly.  But he does love to be carried around, especially on daddy's shoulders.

Soon enough he will be moving through the streets of Denver in his new Burley.  Can't wait to connect it to the back of our bikes and ride to Jazz in the Park and the farmer's market.

We had a super fun weekend with Uncle Matty and Auntie Jana in Pagosa Springs.  Lucas did really well on the 5 1/2 hour car ride - can't wait to explore more new places with him!

Loving our guests! (7 Months)

Forgot to mention on the last post that Lucas has started solids...his first food was advocado and he loved it!  We are having a great time seeing him experience new tastes and flavors.

I am really enjoying making all of his food.  My favorite recipe thus far is apple/squash/raisin puree...yes, I taste them all to try them out.  Zach tells me I need to stop as our freezer is completely full of ziploc bags of frozen cubes.

We had a great time with Grandpa and Grandma last weekend.  We took advantage of their time here and got a few tasks done, like taking down the Christmas village (in February!) and working on the deck.  We even got to go out for dinner one night, just the two of us.  Lucas loved all the time playing with grandpa and grandma...he was very bored when they went home.

This past weekend Aaron, Nicole and Alex came to visit us.  Alex and Lucas had a great time playing together...Alex is such a great big cousin and was constantly helping to take care of Lucas.  They had such a fun time laughing and playing together - it was so fun to just sit back and watch them interact.

Lucas sits up like a pro now and loves to clap his hands and hear himself "talk".

And finally, his 7-month photo shoot...

Milestones (6 Months)

(Sorry for the delay in posts - I was having problems posting pictures but now I am back on track...)

My, how time flies!  It is hard to believe Lucas is already 6-months-old.  We have reached many milestones in the last month.  He is now rolling over and sitting up by himself...it is sad that he is growing so fast and at the same time exciting that he is learning new things.  Now, if we could just get this sleep stuff figured out!  Lucas has never been a good sleeper and we are very jealous of our friends that tell us their children sleep from 7am-7pm and don't wake up.  Lucas is often up several times a night and wakes no later than 6am each morning.  Coffee solves everything.  Yes, we get frustrated but we remind ourselves this will pass.  We are so grateful for a healthy baby.  Over the holidays, we went to Grandpa and Grandma's church in St. Cloud and a one-year-old was receiving a blessing for an upcoming surgery for fluid around her brain.  She will not likely live much longer - definitely puts our few sleepless nights in perspective.

We went out for brunch today to celebrate Lucas's 1/2 birthday....

He is loving the fish at the zoo...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas (5 Months)

We went to see Santa this past weekend....there was no line AND Lucas did not cry in Santa's arms!  It was a good start to Lucas's first holiday season!

We are counting the days until we fly home to see friends and family.  The annual cooking competition on the Morrison side will be quite interesting this year as we will need to compete with a little one.  I guess my sister does it every with two kids...and WINS!  I guess we need to start working on our costumes...

Lucas turned 5 months old this week - how time flies.  He recently started rolling over and is completely enthralled with his toes.  He hates to wear pants, or really any clothing at all, and would prefer to be naked all the time!

Naming Ceremony and Visitors (4 1/2 Months)

Last weekend, we had Lucas's naming ceremony at our church.  It is somewhat like a baptism - welcoming Lucas to the community and recognizing him as an individual.  He wore the baptisimal gown that my brother, sister and I all wore for our baptisms (the bonnet was a little small for his HUGE head!)  We were grateful that my parents were here for the ceremony as Lucas Gregory is named after his Papa.

Lucas with his godparents, Sarah and Justin.

After the ceremony, we had a brunch to celebrate at our place....Bloody Mary bar and all! Can you tell my mom helped plan the menu?!

Lucas got lots of special time with Papa and Ya-ya.  They even babysat one night so we could go out for dinner which was such a treat.  We so miss them, especially because we got to sleep in while they took Lucas in their bed in the morning when he woke up.

Lucas is loving his Exersaucer...and his tongue is his newest discovery.   He is so close to rolling over and likes to be on his tummy.  We stopped swaddling him at night and he is officially in his crib full time.  All these big steps...he is growing up!
