Happy Father's Day! (11 Months)

We had an action-packed Father's Day in the Bisek family to celebrate Zach's first big day!  We started the day by going to our neighborhood farmer's market and then jumped in the car and headed to the foothills for a hike.  What a great way to escape the heat!  We had no idea it would be 60 and raining....good thing we had a spare set of fleece jammies in Lucas's diaper bag!

After the hike, we headed back to town in time to go to Jazz in the Park.  Every Sunday evening in the summer everyone brings their picnic dinner and bottle of wine to City Park to listen to the jazz music.  It was so much fun to have Lucas with us as we used to go all the time when it was just the two of us.  The plethora of dogs and little kids kept Lucas entertained.

My attempt at a family picture...

Earlier in the week we had a play date with our neighbor, Nora (15 months) and her mom, Claire.  They had a great time playing together...

Last Saturday marked our first day of swimming lessons.  Lucas had a blast!  He absolutely loves being in the water and doesn't mind going under.  Looks like he will fit right in at the lake!

Post-swimming lesson warm up with Nora...

And finally the 11-month photo shoot....

He is such a happy boy....and we couldn't be having more fun than we are right now.  He is cruising along furniture and loves to turn the water on and off on our bathroom tub.  He recently discovered the toilet paper roll and the fun he can have pulling the toilet paper.  Waving "bye bye" is his newest trick and it is often quite delayed in its delivery.

We are looking forward to the big upcoming birthday party...Grandpa and Grandma AND Papa and Ya-ya are all coming for the celebration!

Keeping Busy!

Memorial Day weekend I headed to Portland with 4 of my college girlfriends - we had a great time catching up and enjoying sunny weather (in Portland?).  Just like the good 'ol days...but we got to bed much earlier!

This past weekend we went to the Roller Derby with several of our neighbors.  Lucas had his first sleepover with his neighborhood friends at our house.  We were shocked when we returned home and all the kids were asleep.  (Our neighbors wanted to leave their kids there, but we wouldn't let them! :) ).

On Sunday, we attended our neighbor's one-year birthday party.  Lucas loved climbing through the tunnel and the weather was perfect.

Our little boy is getting in another 4 teeth so life has been a little rough as of late.  We can't get enough of his big toothy smiles!

Mother's Day! (10 Months)

It was really difficult to choose only a few pictures for the blog from grandpa and grandma's visit this past weekend.  We had such a great time hanging out, celebrating Mother's Day, going to the Botanical Gardens and planting all of our herbs, tomatoes and flowers.

Lucas will "walk" while holding onto the couch or ottoman only if the TV remote is in view, otherwise he is happy to stand in one place.  Zach and his dad found time for more work on the deck and terrace....it is almost finished!!!  The contractors start this week on the concrete patio, sprinklers and grass.

Riding in Style....(almost 10 months)

We finally got a bike helmet for Lucas so he could ride in the Burley....as you can tell from the picture, he wasn't happy about wearing it.  After we got moving, he was all smiles and loved the ride so much so that he forgot about the huge piece of plastic strapped to his head!

He also loves his little car - can't wait until he can actually move it around himself so we don't have to push it around all the time....

Cousin Naia and Auntie Sarah (9 1/2 Months)

We had such a wonderful visit with Naia and Sarah...Lucas was very sad when he realized his playmate had left town.  Naia stayed very busy playing with "Baby Lucas" and chasing him throughout the house.  It is so much fun to be around a 4-year-old (and very tiring too!).

Playing at the park...

Out for lunch...(look closely to find Lucas)

Eating ice cream for the first time!

A little "Spring" in our step!

We enjoyed the Spring-like weather yesterday and went to the Botanical Gardens.  Zach commented it was the most relaxed he had felt in weeks and I agreed!

Family Picture....

First time Lucas felt grass on his toes!

All smiles as we wait for hiking season to begin....

Happy boy....and happy parents (9 months)

I am very excited to announce we are all sleeping through the night in the Bisek household.  That makes for a very happy baby....and even happier parents!  Wow, how different the morning looks after a full night of sleep!  Yes, we are all giddy here....Lucas is now crawling and loves to pull himself up on the ottoman.  He is so much happier now that he can move around.

Lucas and I had a great Easter in Fargo with the Morrison gang.  He did pretty well on the flights but I fear the days of him sleeping the entire flight are over.  He stayed busy opening and closing the shade, banging his fists on the tray table, pushing the TV volume and channel buttons and pulling our neighbor's shirt.  Thank goodness it is only an hour and 20 minute flight!

 Our little Easter bunnies....

Finley and Naia were extremely "helpful" taking care of all of Baby Lucas' needs...

Looking forward to Auntie Sarah and Naia's visit in 2 short weeks!

More Teeth! (8 Months)

Each day brings something new with our little boy...and lately it has been teeth!  In addition to his bottome two teeth, his top two teeth have broken through.  The top two look to be spaced pretty far apart so it is looking like he may have inherited his momma's teeth (I did have braces twice, headgear, neckgear and still to this day wear a retainer!).

At his doctor appointment on Friday he weighed in at 19 1/2 pounds.  He is one big boy!  Just today he showed some interest in army crawling to get to his favorite toy - hopefully that continues.  He hates to be on his tummy so that has definitely delayed any movement on his stomach.  Lucas also loves to stand up and hold on to the ottoman or couch.

Luckily we made it into swimming lessons this summer at one of our outdoor pools.  It is super difficult to get into the lessons as there are so many kids in our area.  We are super happy that Nora, our 1-year-old neighbor, made it into the same class as Lucas.

Favorites:
Toys - anything musical, kitchen utensils, toy alligator
Food - prunes, peas, strawberry/beet puffs
Books - anything with baby faces
Activities - smiling at other babies, sitting on daddy's shoulders, playing with daddy, really anything to do with daddy

Lounging on the couch -

Playing at the library -

On the Move (7 1/2 Months)

About 4 weeks after Lucas was born, I joined a great group called Stroller Strides.  It is a workout group for moms that incorporates the stroller.  It was my saving grace during my maternity leave as some days that was my only reason to leave the house.  The best part....everyone's babies would cry at some point and there was no judgement or no thinking, "will he EVER stop crying?!".  The teacher would always say, "No one else can hear your baby cry but you."  I have learned babies cry a lot and Lucas was no exception.
Because I went back to work full-time and Stroller Strides meets at 9:30 each morning, I had to quit going to the group.  When I heard a Stroller Strides Saturday winter running group was starting up, I couldn't wait to sign up.  The plan was to train for and run three races - a 5K in December, a 5-mile in January and a 10-mile race in February.  Training included running every Saturday morning together as a group and two runs throughout the week.  Well, I never made a weekday run....BUT I didn't miss a weekend run.  The running was actually easy as we all chatted the whole time and before you knew it, we had finished 5 miles or 7 miles or 9 miles.  Last weekend was our 10-mile race and surprisingly I am sad that it has come to an end...

Speaking of moving, Lucas is more and more active every day.  Is he crawling?  No.  Rolling over?  Well, not exactly.  But he does love to be carried around, especially on daddy's shoulders.

Soon enough he will be moving through the streets of Denver in his new Burley.  Can't wait to connect it to the back of our bikes and ride to Jazz in the Park and the farmer's market.

We had a super fun weekend with Uncle Matty and Auntie Jana in Pagosa Springs.  Lucas did really well on the 5 1/2 hour car ride - can't wait to explore more new places with him!
