It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas (5 Months)

We went to see Santa this past weekend....there was no line AND Lucas did not cry in Santa's arms!  It was a good start to Lucas's first holiday season!

We are counting the days until we fly home to see friends and family.  The annual cooking competition on the Morrison side will be quite interesting this year as we will need to compete with a little one.  I guess my sister does it every with two kids...and WINS!  I guess we need to start working on our costumes...

Lucas turned 5 months old this week - how time flies.  He recently started rolling over and is completely enthralled with his toes.  He hates to wear pants, or really any clothing at all, and would prefer to be naked all the time!

Naming Ceremony and Visitors (4 1/2 Months)

 

Last weekend, we had Lucas's naming ceremony at our church.  It is somewhat like a baptism - welcoming Lucas to the community and recognizing him as an individual.  He wore the baptisimal gown that my brother, sister and I all wore for our baptisms (the bonnet was a little small for his HUGE head!)  We were grateful that my parents were here for the ceremony as Lucas Gregory is named after his Papa.

 After the ceremony, we had a brunch to celebrate at our place....Bloody Mary bar and all! Can you tell my mom helped plan the menu?!

Lucas got lots of special time with Papa and Ya-ya.  They even babysat one night so we could go out for dinner which was such a treat.  We so miss them, especially because we got to sleep in while they took Lucas in their bed in the morning when he woke up.

Lucas is loving his Exersaucer...and his tongue is his newest discovery.   He is so close to rolling over and likes to be on his tummy.  We stopped swaddling him at night and he is officially in his crib full time.  All these big steps...he is growing up!

Four Months...with a Mohawk!

We had our 4 month pediatrician appointment today and here are the latest stats:

Height: 2' 2" (86th percentile)
Weight: 15lbs 10 oz (54th percentile)
Head: 16.85" (82nd percentile)

Still going strong with a large head and Zach is loving that he is "tall".  He continues to be healthy and right on target.  Well, healthy now....he was sent home from daycare last week with a fever.  Zach came home and took his temp several times that day and he had no fever.  I stayed home the next day and did the same....we think he was faking it.  He didn't have a temp and was all smiles all day.  We think he wanted some extra TLC and we were happy to give it to him.  I guess this is just pay back for all the times I told my parents I was "sick" as a kid.

He came home last week from daycare with a mohawk...he does have the perfect hair for it as he is pretty bald on the sides of his head with all the hair on top!

His nickname at daycare is Mr. Num Num because he constantly has to have something in his mouth.  His favorite thing to suck on?  His fist, of course!

 

Every day brings new sounds.  There is nothing better than waking up each morning to a new squawk or shreek....I just wish it wasn't always at 5:30am!

 

We are anxiously awaiting Papa and Ya-ya's visit for Thanksgiving next week.  I am busy getting the grocery list ready for the big meal.

 

We have much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving - our little turkey brings us so much joy each and every day.  Happy Thanksgiving to you!

 

Trick or Treat!

Lucas wasn't as excited about his first Halloween as we were - we had to wake him up to get his costume on for the neighborhood picture!

We had a great Halloween despite the fact that we only had 4 trick-or-treaters!  We think all the construction around our neighborhood scared them all away...now what to do with the 700 pieces of candy that I bought?  Happy Halloween!

Three Months?!

Lucas is already three months old - we can't believe it!  He is holding up his head really well and just recently starting sitting in his Bumpo....

We are amazed at his constant development, yet at the same time wish he would slow down as he is not a little baby anymore.  He seems to really like daycare and comes home each day completely exhausted.  We are very lucky we found such a great place and feel so comfortable bringing him there each day.  The transition back to work has gone pretty well, although I wish working part time was a possibility.

Back to Work Blues

 

I start back to work tomorrow and I have mixed emotions.  I really enjoyed my maternity leave and spending every day for the past 3 months with Lucas has been a true blessing.  I have learned watching him sleep in my arms can waste away the majority of the day and I have enjoyed every moment of it.  Forget the laundry or the dirty floors or dinner for that matter!  He is such a good baby and it is going to be so hard to be away for him tomorrow.  On the other hand, being a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) is really tough!  It is a thankless job and I so admire the moms I know that do it every day (my sis and my mom!)

I got pretty far on my "maternity leave to-do list".  We went on countless walks and I even attempted to organize the mudroom.  Here is a pic of the curtains I made for his room that I finished yesterday....just in the nick of time!

Beautiful wedding in the CO mountains

Our good friends, Sarah and Justin, were married this past weekend at Devil's Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, CO (near Winter Park)...and we were very honored to officiate the wedding.  It was an absolutely beautiful morning ceremony with the golden aspens in the background and the sun shining.  Lucas was even up there with us, but he slept through the entire wedding!

Trip Home to MN/ND

We had such a wonderful trip home.  Lucas was a champ on both flights and didn't make a peep either way.  We know we won't always be so lucky as the younger kids around us were squirmy and wiggling around the entire time.  Lucas got to meet lots of friends and relatives and so enjoyed being held all day (so much so that I now have a difficult time getting him to lay down for naps during the day!)  He especially loved meeting his cousins and getting lots of attention from them.  Thanks to everyone for their hospitality and showing us such a great time.
